Really interesting read, good stuff to know in order to make my blog a better reading experience - thank you for putting it together! And you got one of my comments in, fame at last (albeit anonymously!) Helen
Gorgeous! I must be insane as I can barely look after 2 small and very energetic boys as it is, but I am soooooooo broody! Might just be time for number 3 (I didn't just say that did I?!!)
Wow I'm so impressed with your vegetable growing. I've just about managed some tomatoes on the patio and herbs this year but will definitely start my own patch once the rain holds off long enough to get out in the garden! A brilliant idea to have the cones & ice cream ready when the ice cream van passes - I think I will start doing that! We spend about £100 a week for our family of 4 (including a takeaway for me & my husband plus nappies & formula) so we probably should get a bit better with our shopping!
I love the vet's outfit! I've got boys so don't have quite the same dilemma, but when I'm buying for my friend's little girl who is 9, I really struggle with something 'appropriate' to buy her - she's much more into clothes than I ever remember being at her age, but I guess that's sadly a sign of the times too! Helen
What a great idea! Never thought of framing my boys' creations (they tend to be stuck on the fridge for a few weeks & then given to my mum, who's making a nice scrapbook of everything!) We do the same in our kitchen, which has a tiled floor - cleaning up is never as bad as you think it's going to be (as long as they don't escape onto the lounge carpet - it's not so easy then!) Helen
Great idea! Will try it with the boys tomorrow. Hope you are feeling a bit better today x
These are fantastic, I love the mugs - lucky teachers! It was hard enough getting the boys to make a thank you card for their swimming teacher this year as they are so little, but hopefully they'll be more co-operative next year! Helen
A lovely post. I remember the 'novelty' of bringing our first son home from hospital. A few days later I remember chatting with my husband about when 'life would return to normal'. It never has! I can see how things will get easier as they grow (my boys are only 3 and 2) but I guess things evolve from meeting your child's practical needs, to their emotional ones. I find being a mum is all-consuming, some days it engulfs me and other days I relish it, but now it is just 'normal life' - how did things change so dramatically in such a short space of time?!
My first trip to the cinema was to see Mary Poppins. I was only quite little and remember being really confused as I couldn't understand whether I was watching people in real life, or just on a really, really big television! We went to see Toy Story 3 last week too and despite it being far too loud (or is it me getting old?!) it was a great hit and so nice to enjoy something together as a family!
Lovely post - it's often like that with children, isn't it! Always better to opt for the more positive memories though, afterall they're only little for such a short space of time!
