Writing real people, it's hard NOT to see their flaws and hard NOT to see their vulnerability. It does make the character you base on them, more real. There are traits and personalities you just can't make up out of the blue. And it's funny, I've been accused of that, and had reviews from readers and all who say 'no one would really act/be/say/do that' but yes, there are and I think sometimes in fiction the whole escape from any reality is sometimes very prevalent. I like a bit of reality with my fiction, characters I can relate to. Twisted Up isn't the first book I've written with a character based on a real person or friend. I have several...
