Well in this case i agree with you. The r word shouldnt be used and PC is good when not taken to extreme. But you gotta admit that it makes it a bit of a captain obvious statement. Everything is good in moderate quantaties. Sex is great but rape is bad, water if great but drowning is bad, alcohol is great but being a drunken slob is better etc etc etc :-)

Hey i agree in that particular field a quota isnt the smart thing to do. But i imagine you have race quotas in other areas of life. Universities etc. And making 10000 special cases where quotas shouldnt be applied is, for me, also not the most sensible approach. Cuz that way the uni admission dean can say well if in rugby and golf or curling they dont have quotas, why should I have to have them. We all train and search for the best, right?
If there's an universal (well not universal but you get the point) quota you just pay a small price (suckier rugby team) for a huge benefit (black scientists and ceo's and whatever)

Since when is paying women 8%less good entrepeneurship, JUST cuz they have a vagina.
Its DISCRIMINATION and that proves that society is terrible at selection.
You assume that the good the brave the honest the hardworking the smart will prevale. But thats stupid. You cant make perfect selection. You wont always see the perfect 500 students for your 500 places and as the cant garantee you'll pay people the same amount, you cant garantee you will promote the good person. The differences in the real world are so small, that biases become a huge thing.
And yeah, employers ARE an inconsistent bunch. Thats why sarkozy had the idea of anonymous cv's. Cuz employers ARE TURDS.

Well if you suck at giving 2 identical employees the same salary im pretty sure you really suck at promoting women.

I call BS on this one. Except for rugby or football national teams where you need 20-25 people, the other organisations wont become hellholes of mediocrity.
Lets be honest in general its very difficult to class people or to determin wow this mediocre dude is way better than that mediocre chick. Or vice versa. (in mathematical terms the gauss curve has a wide variance when populations are involved). And a quota of 5-10% wont change anything. Like 8 players to be home grown etc.

No. Cuz the students get welfare before they get into the engineering schools. They dont dicover they're broke when they're 20. Plus many work and study at the same time or dont get personal teachers etc etc etc.
And its not about getting an education. Is about getting in the best engineering schools.
Ps: are you trying to explain to me how the french system works?

Let me tell you quotas are amazing. Im at what could be considered one of the best engineering schools in france. And from a promotion of 500 people, there arent 7 black people. Its wrong. Very very wrong. And dont think they're all walking geniouses. Ive seen white students that just sit and are soo soo very stupid.
Its a system that feeds its self on inequality, a vicious circle.
There has been a debate in france, to put quotas for students that dont have sufficient financial means. (your's trully is also always broke) but the french engineering schools flat out refused cuz it would reduce the importance of the diploma. BS

Well women get in the eu about 8% less than men. Imagine getting an 8% pay cut one day. Would you be happy? And this isnt about skill. Its statistics.
And about the sports thing. It is a bit silly to pinpoint something so particular as very high performance rugby. But look at football in europe. They decided that teams have to have about 5-8 home grown players. And thats a good thing. Its builds fidelity and it helps the national team.
Sometimes quotas and being forced to do something is a good thing.

Yeah. Also there's a defence contractor/ aerospatial/ transportation french company that's called Thales. Pbbly after #1. Its quite a large company 480 forbes and if you take highspeed trains from bruxelles to france you might have the choice between eurostar, sncf, thales.
Funny thing, i had a field trip to the firm (one of its buildings in the south of paris) with some collegues last week. They gave us cookies. Cookies are best when they're from your local defense contractor.
