Another Chioggia Beet ("The Protector") here!
The description makes me go "awww", but then again it's 1/2 Barnum effect and 1/2 me having low self-confidence so anything positive said about me feels great, even if it is on a hipster vegetable quiz.

Heh, I have almost the same history with Betty McDonald. Mom lent me "The Egg and I" on one long family holiday when I was a tween and I read it, "Anybody Can Do Anything", and "The Plague and I" at least twice. I don't know what made me connect with an american housewife, but I suspect I just fell in love with her snark.

I dunno, all I see in #3 is the guy in the green jacket gazing lovingly at the pianist, while the girl in white is furiously pretending she doesn't see anything and her friend is just blessedly oblivious.

Great article :) I like the idea that surrendering control of a situation can be harder then doing everything yourself, but that you also might need to do the alone thing before you're ready for that. As a self-acknowledged control freak this is something I've learned the hard way.
Also, yay bikes. I inherited an ancient moped - a rather hilarious piece of junk, older than me, makes 25mph on a good day. But, it has two wheels and a motor and well, the seed has been planted. :B I'm definitely going to get a real bike once I have the money.

Same here. I share your pain.
That "not that straight" line always felt wrong to me. Maybe that's just my opinion, but someone's sexual identity is their own damn business and nobody has the right to tell them they're wrong. Even if theyvery well might be. Throwing it into someone's face tike that is an agressive gesture - something you'd use on someone offensively homophobic to put them down, not on a teammate/friend. America doesn't mince words, but through the entire run she never talks like that to Kate.
I love AmeriKate, but I hate this line so much.
