I was searching for a pantaloon pattern for an American Girl doll and I came across your blog. My daughter is in our local performance of the The Nutcracker and I'm making her doll and identical dress to her party girl dress for the performance. Anyway, I love the doll clothes...esp. the rain jacket.

I just happen to be hosting a 6 week handmade Christmas series and I would love for you to link this post up to the gifts for children section. Here's the link http://www.schneiderpeeps.com/2012/10/craft-gifts...

Have a great weekend.

Quinn, I'm so glad your family got to take some time off and vacation together. I was just thinking this morning while I was making my bed that it had been a while since one of your posts has come through my reader. I said a short prayer for you. Our harvest time in June/July - I have no idea how you guys do it in September when so many other things seem to want our attention.

We've come to the same conclusion with other crops. For instance, we chose not to grow corn this year because it takes alot of work to get ears that aren't wormy or meally (or pesticides) and a lot of space if we want to grow enough to can it. It's better for me to just buy from a local farmer on the side of the road and can that.

oh, those tomato hornworms. They are so hard to spot. We had several this year but I never had the nerve to squish them, we just gave them to the chickens. Last year we had a hard time with vine borers in our squash so this year I planted extra plants... we harvested almost 300 pounds of squash, zucchini and patty pan squash. It was crazy.

Quinn, I want to encourage you to continue doing what the Lord has put on your heart even when others (esp. christians) don't understand. My children are a little older than yours and although we don't follow a set homeschooling "style" (we change how we educate as the Lord leads) we have always had a emphasis on their hearts. Over the last few years as my older boys are preparing to follow the dreams that God has put in their hearts I've seen a maturity that most of their peers just don't have. They have big, non conforming dreams that make me feel overwhelmed at times but I just have to keep reminding myself that God is directing them and that really is what I want.

It's hard when you have so many little ones but just keep doing what God wants you to and He will fill in any gaps that need filling.

I know this sounds like a silly question but how do you know if your chickens have lice? We have chickens and haven't noticed anything like lice or mites but then again we haven't been looking for them.
