Whatever one might think about Bill Gates, you have to admire him for giving most of his personal fortune to charities and his foundation. Likewise, JK Rowling got bumped off the British billionaires list because she gave so much of her money to charity.

His wife is an anchor/reporter for ABC. Wouldn't that be a conflict of interest or something?

Someone please help me out here, because I'm getting confused. Republicans keep crying foul because they say that nasty liberals are ruining our country, what with their socialism and such. It's the right wing's god-given destiny to protect our American democratic freedom. Or something. But we keep hearing, ad nauseum, stories like this:

"So if the board doesn’t keep an arbitrary graduation rule that was widely opposed by voters, the legislature can respond by passing arbitrary graduation requirements of its own."

Isn't a democracy a form of government in which shit happens because people vote on it? And the legislatures got there because people voted them in, and they work for us. But, the government only has to do what the voters vote on if they AGREE WITH IT? Otherwise, they can just make their own shit up?

My head hurts.
