I agree...it's about raising them to be farther from you, yet I don't think there is a single time that we want them out of reach of our heart. Often my oldest is in that place. I just can't touch her.

I had those type of bangs too. The bangs that could not be inconvenienced by something like a forehead cracking a windshield. I felt the pain of the hair. Great writing. I enjoyed reading this!

There is a lot going on here. This part...

...hit home with me and made me think of all the times fiction was ripped from me and the veil was lifted.

I'm scared to drive across railroad tracks. I have an irrational fear that some silent stalking train car that is speeding along will wipe me out.

Bridges make sense. Train tracks make sense. Fear is fear and its part of what makes us human (well that and our whole opposable thumb superiority)
