And actually being at the 1984 Olympics must have made it doubly special for you as an American. I am afraid my viewing has been limited to television broadcasts! But I am still just as proud :)

Thank you so much for coming by and for your wonderfully patriotic comments. I had always thought we could not, and indeed would not, be competing with China. Their display was stunning, but very militaristic and precise, where ours was far more personal. But as you say, both were equally impressive. I also agree with you about the NHS. I couldn’t see the point either, but nevertheless wasn’t the overall spectacular was just that – spectacular! Personally, I am now looking forward to the closing ceremony. Hope it doesn’t disappoint

The Last Night of the Proms will be broadcast across the world on Saturday, September 8th. If you get a chance to watch the last hour, or even 45 minutes, do try. It really is worth it. :)

It's hard after years of living in another country not be become part of it, and I am so glad you did and that you have such pride in both your roots and your chosen country. Really nice to hear :)
