Your comments section is borked. Above you mentioned people leaving religion in droves. Do you know what the #1 cause of that is? It's not atheists or public schools. It's being stifled by religion. Sooner or later, all of our kids will enter the adult world without us by their sides to monitor them. When they can finally breathe, when they are no longer being suffocated and controlled, many, MANY of them jump ship for the freedom over the railing. When you're too controlling, you make religion into something harmful. When you don't let your kids breathe, they'll push away the first chance they get, whether that's in a high school or in their 20's when they finally get to be free. It is vitally important to not suffocate your kids unless you want them to shove you away as hard as they can once they realize you're the reason they can't breathe.

You missed the mark. Mulan had a scene where she had on the full face makeup. It wasn't to match another race. In the photo above it's not race-matching either. It's correct to the character and to the culture. Even a Chinese woman who was a geisha would have worn it.

If your daughter dressed as Mulan in a different scene, such as the end with her hair down, then the makeup would't have been appropriate. However the child above has hair up which indicates the matchmaker scene, and so the makeup is appropriate.

Real-life geishas painted their faces white and did their makeup like in the movie and in the photo above. Geisha paint and blackface are very different. Even within the Chinese culture, geishas wore that makeup. The makeup was a sign of the profession, and it was a respected one. Leaving the makeup off for a costume actually insults the profession. It is more vital than the rest of what geishas wore. But under no circumstances do black people wear blackface.

"My girls see themselves as real sisters, not two different races. Yet the people who point out that my blond girl should not dress as Mulan or my raven haired girl should not dress as Rapunzel are very quick to point out the difference. Who is the racist?"

Perfectly said, Sivje.

Anyone think it's almost funny that that is the only state with any legalized prostitution? So prostitution is a-okay in some areas, but not gay marriage.

I wonder how often that judge visits the Mustang Ranch. (That's the biggest whorehouse in Nevada...and it's 100% legal.)
