Amanda, you have touched on something that is so near and dear to my heart. the fear of being let down by others. Life has a way of planting that fear in ones head, and it's the reason that I don't have parties or arrange big fete's for my birthday. It's too much effort and anxiety. Even though people are well meaning, when they let you down, it hurts.

I will say that the older you get (ahem....that's me), the less you will care about your birthday. Now I plan travel, intimate dinners or just a treat day to myself and I'm good with it.

That said, I'm sorry that happened to you. I know how it feels and it blows. Truly.

Oh, I feel your fears! I know how terrifying certain things can be. I'm launching a healthy food company and people are starting to pre-order. Instead of feeling excited, I'm paralyzed with fear that they will hate my product, or choke on it and die.
