Thanks so much for writing this; I love The Toast for this reason: it creates a safe space for so many people. I often feel like the intellectual corners of the internet aren't "safe" for self-professed Christians. Thanks for making it so and for sharing your story of doubt and faith.

Thanks for sharing this, Lauren. I wrote about this very subject recently on my own blog (http://abbyfp.wordpress.com/2012/04/26/i-dont-owe-you-a-smile/). It is good to hear other women's stories, as difficult and frustrating as they are, and as hopeless as the problem seems. I often take for granted what little street harassment I actually experience as an American, compared with other women all around the world, who experience it on a much more serious, damaging level. It's all serious and damaging.
