It's not complicated - we just work hard to make it that way. Well-stated, Tim - see you in Orlando!

Really enjoyed the post, Tim. It resonated very powerfully we me: I picked up my lifelong learner habit from my dad at an early age, with a foundation of reading constantly. I still am reading 5+ books a week, in addition to online learning, seminars, conferences, conversations, and life in general. My dad passed away earlier this year, and on this upcoming Father's Day without him, I will honor his legacy by continuing to learn - and share - all I can.

Walt Disney's habit of picking up the rare piece of trash at the opening day of Disneyland in 1955 became a Disney value that lives on today in all of their organizations - leaders demonstrate the way in all things, no matter how "insignificant."

Change is the hardest work there is - especially in ChurchWorld! As a church staff member for over 23 years, I encountered the most resistence whenever change was contemplated, usually to the tune of "we've always done it this way." That comment always reminded me of what humorist Will Rogers said: "Things ain't what they used to be and probably never was." The reality is that life is change. As church leaders, we must not shy away from change, but roll up our sleeves and lead change. Good thoughts on your post.

I can identify with your experience in several ways. My natural personality is that of an introvert, but I have a learned or aquired personna in public speaking environments. Even at events and conferences that I speak at, I have to force myself to find a group and interact. My natural reaction is to find a quiet corner and watch and listen to the crowd, or retreat to a quiet restaurant or my room and pull up a book on my Kindle. Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to reading "Quiet:The Power of Introverts in a World that can't Stop Talking" by Susan Cain. Maybe I will find some clues there! Great post.

Excellent observations and applications to ChurchWorld! As I read this I immediately connected it to Fast Company's cover story on "Generation Flux" and how leaders in ChurchWorld can adapt and survive in the world of pure chaos we live in. Or not...
