"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves". I just thought of a new application for not doing something out of selfish ambition. I know many women put out in order to "secure" a man. They don't necessarily want to be seen as loose women but they don't want to be without a man. I never thought of it before but it is selfishness. It is putting their wants before God's. Women need to be taught to love and respect God so much that their own desires have no power over them.

Contrary to that I have heard the world saying to "have it all!" and "all" is a husband, house, car, two kids, etc. etc. etc. (The "American Dream"). God says that we are to worship Him alone and have no other idols (or ideas/dreams) before Him.

Praying for your mother's pain. I know you will all miss her terribly.

You keep on keeping on! Don't let the non-compliments bother you. If anything, they should be asking what your secret is so they too can do it too. If anything, get better and better at it to show everyone by your example that it is possible and take away their excuses.

Oh Lori, THANK YOU!!!!! I can not say thank you enough. I am so tired of women glorying in mediocrity. There is an old saying, "I can do bad by myself" which implies the people in your life are ones that should help you do better. I see this so much today. Everybody acts like "they are doing the best they can" but they are not. None of us are. But what really bothers me is that they act like it is fine and excuse it away in themselves and others. They will even "baptize" the idea and say, "we all need Jesus" like that is an excuse for not being all God designed them to be. When it comes to child rearing, the line I hear is, "you can do everything and still the kid can turn out bad" which is fine to comfort someone who really tried to do all they knew to do, but is not AT ALL an encouragement for women who are still in the midst of raising children to actually do all they can do.

I too have my struggles, but I don't want to continue in them. I treasure you and others who challenge me to do "the good works God set out for me before time".

I truly believe the only way to heal a woman like this is if she immerses herself in the Bible, not comparing herself (for ill or good) to other women.

Good point. Perhaps some seeds were planted and may sprout.

I don't know if debating back and forth on social media was the best thing to do to achieve your goals. I say this as someone who has and it has limited results. But with that said, I agree that you were completely in the right. It sounds like a bit of a lame excuse anyway that she used to send her child back. There are SO many math curriculums, tutors, websites, etc. that anybody should be able to learn math even if their parent isn't good at it.

But I must say that I wish I had more friends like you. Too often, way too often, I hear women supporting other women no matter what unGodly idea is being contemplated. "Oh, you want to let your 5 year old son get a gender change surgery? You GO GIRL!" There needs to be more women who stand up for the truth, IN LOVE and lovingly and with compassion alert these women to the dangers of their choices.

It's all well and good until it happens to your child. :(
