People have been saying it for a long time and it's finally true: Government Motors is here and it's here to stay for quite some time.

The push to "Go Green" has been something that has irked me majorly for some time now because it's not even close to being feasible. Technology advances but not that fast. The companies would have to use every piece of advanced technology they have to reduce weight such as carbon fiber bodies, lighter metals, and be much more aerodynamic. Of course if we use lighter metals, the safety of passengers could come at a price.

I do have to slightly disagree with the "new period of innovation" piece. GM was starting to be innovative before the bailout with their Volt and Camaro lines, not to mention many body redesigns and features being added. Would the other innovation have been more radical? Most likely, but killing off the lesser brands like Pontiac, Saturn, and Hummer were needed. Those models had a smaller and smaller base. Hopefully these innovations can bring back the much needed companies and keep the jobs in form of plants and dealerships alive.
