I read that thread while I was still on bsky! I've read a lot about crows over the years and had even found a documentary that talks about some of this stuff. They don't forget people, they hold grudges, etc. The tip about feeding them peanuts in the shellf is spot on. When I lived in the Adirondacks, the crows would only come when I put out peanuts in the shell for the squirrels. They didn't give a shit bout no bird seed the chickadees were eating. Also, they are SUPER skittish about humans in general. Whereas a nuthatch or chickadee will warm up to you pretty quickly after they know you're a food source, crows absolutely (and rightly?) do not trust humans at all. Even though they were brave enough to come to my lawn for the peanuts, if they saw me anywhere outside at all, they would not come. If I had been specifically trying to befriend them, I can tell it would have taken much time and patience. One person's story I read online... she mentioned the peanut in shell thing, but she also said if you really want them to love you, pour a little bacon grease on the shelled peanuts before you toss them in your yard. Bacon, the great unifier.

Unsure how much of any of this is true (though I know both states are ranked very low and very high in these categories, respectively). Also unsure how I feel about this graphic or its purpose in general. But then I'm unsure of the purpose of most things these days.
