Wrong on this one. No charges have been filed as of yet. Check the courthouse records and just wait on the Attorney General's Office to finish.

I agree with you. With a county police force that's all the Sheriff's Office should do. The courts,the jail and civil process.

Even if the county would switch to county police there would still have to be a Sheriff in the county. Statues lay this out clearly for operation of the jail,courthouse and the service of civil papers. This would still be an elected position. All towns would be asked to disband the police departments. Very few counties have gone to this and cost saving does not take place.
