Obviously comments are being made by those that are ignorant of mountaineering and making insensitive remarks about people they know nothing about. There are friends and family who care about these people and let me assure you they are not idiots or stupid. Conditions for winter climbing were ideal on Friday. Many successful ascents by much more difficult routes have been completed in the past week. Yes, alpine climbing typically starts at night to avoid dangerous conditions later in the day. Accidents happen - good people assist. The people assisting are other climbers volunteering and gladly risking their lives for some of their own. They also rescue hunters, fishers, skiers, lost children and anyone else that is in need. Climbing has risks, just like the rest of life, but climbers are rescuing their own. Why climb at all? If you have to ask you don't get it. Hopefully one of the above commenters wont ever make an error and be involved in an accident and need help.
