Our founding fathers would be 'horrified' of the state of our Republic today. We have actually come full circle to
what they fought so hard to break free of-taxation without representation. Thomas Paine foresaw what could
happen, and warned us, that if we do not have God-fearing, moral men to hold the offices that are meant to
serve us (or US, if you like) that the system would not work. That seems to be where we are today and if we
don't fix it, we could possibly be in for another civil war. When I was a child, if a US president appointed lobbyists
to every cabinet position, and none of them had paid their taxes, impeachment would have been considered
just for that alone! Now, they treat it like it's no big deal! I don't think they should even be allowed to serve, unless
they pay taxes-and pay them to the USA (as some hide their money in foreign countries just to avoid paying
taxes to their own government). I agree with the person who said they should not be able to raise their own
salaries. They should be voted on by us-according to how well they do their jobs. Term limits doesn't seem
like such a bad idea either. Many of them come to see their position as entitlement, and that just will not do.
The good people of this great nation (Constitution-lovers with founding father mindsets) have been complacent
far too long, and I only hope it is not too late to return to the basis that made this nation the greatest nation on
earth. Where has commitment, responsibility, fair-play, honor and common sense gone? We used to have them,
didn't we? I do remember them, and I miss them sorely.
