"I can't get through most other fiction because I find plot insufferable & character development so. very. boring. All I want is a total immersion of language and musings that begin with the innocuous and reveal All The Things."

THANK YOU. I've had a coworker perstering me to put into words both why I love modernist/post-mod lit (straight up obsessed with Joyce) and have no interest in his recommendations for various books that are basically just Game of Thrones. Other than the obvious, 'I don't give a shit about dragons', I couldn't phrase why I don't like genre lit. It's just so ...boring.

My whole family has one that we use far too often when dismissing somebody's pinterest platitudes: "Oh, is that Paulo Coelho?"

There have been huge fights in my family that erupted after one person would "suggest" a book to somebody's new partner and therefore imply they are simple or basic. I'm afraid to bring my current fling around because no matter how sweet he is to me...his favorite writer is Chuck Palahniuk. I'm hoping it's a sign of lack of exposure to others and not terrible taste. :(

From my understanding, that was retroactively added as it's meaning...with it previously just representing an even short version of baby.

"Harrison backwards being No Sirrah is one of the most fantastically, gloriously weak and convoluted disses I've ever heard."

Time to go immediately ruin the reputations of all Harrisons I know. They make a strong case there.

Same here! I immediately thought: I want that! It sounds adorable and whimsical.

But then I remembered my first apartment in a basement where I ended up with a terrible lung infection from black mold and went and cleaned my shower.

Toasties.

My partner and I ended our five year relationship/cohabitation this week after struggling through a month of tense emails, couples counseling, and really great breaking up sex. It's both a relief and also the worst? I don't know how to really process that I won't have to take care of him when he gets angry Hulkdrunk in public and breaks things but also, I'm sick today and he used to make me soup and hot toddies and read my books to me. He was the best boyfriend 87% of the time, but the rest he was kind of an entitled jerk who took me and my bill paying skills for granted. It's good that its over...I guess.

How do you keep going through with the right choice when it sucks? Also, is it too soon to get on TInder and ask somebody to bring me soup?

Mine was accidental so I hadn't been tracking anything, but the big things in hindsight I had thought were weird was nausea at night and my nipples got super weird. Like all wrinkly and bumpy.

I didn't have regular periods though to notice missing any, but I do know that right when I hit ten weeks in, I started eating eggs all the time. I had been vegan for six years but I really couldn't think of anything but eggs.

That was my first thought too, selkie or merman.

Although your username gives me the impression you just go around Toast posts and call out people as secretly being a selkie.
