Dallas is the "can do" city. But at the same time, conservative financial environment as well as past booms and busts have made the money here cautious. Angel investors are plentiful in this city, but they tend to shy away from technology (in my experience) opting for healthcare or oil and gas plays. Maybe its what they understand?

My suggestion is to work on creating an entrepruneurial community that supports one another. The investors will tap into that community in time, as long as the dividends are there. Oh, and as far as the "pay it forward" mentality in Dallas? Well, I think thats culturaly. It's all about the deal in this town. I've lived here all my life, and I don't know how to change that, or even if it should be changed.
