Oof, the email thing -- I have an extremely common name with a mildly unusual spelling (Catie), and I get emails addressed to Katie even in the context of a conversation that was held *entirely over email*. (I honestly don't mind when people misspell my name after hearing it, because yep that is how 98% of us spell it.)

My theory is that people who do the K spelling over email are aural (vs visual) thinkers/learners, and must just HEAR the name in their heads when they read it, associate it with the sound not the spelling, and then just plop down letters that go with how it sounds to them. This idea makes me more forgiving... but also how hard is it to look at the letters that are directly in front of your face??

Ask your doctor for a varicella (chicken pox) titer! It's just a blood test for the antibodies against the disease, and will tell you if you're immune or not. If you're not, you can get a booster vax.

OMG I was briefly inhabited by the soul of JK Rowling and I DESTROYED THE EVIDENCE. The shame.

Edit: should also say that I'm pretty sure I was writing in my journal *about* Harry Potter, so it maybe wasn't THAT unexpected, but it was still very unsettling.
