Such an awesome pilot. It was something else, in the best way. Long live Lost.
Ur ntrq jryy? Irel, irel jryy...
The Constant is indeed amazing, and now time for my LOST story: I was, oh, maybe 9 or 10 when I saw the pilot. I think my family started watching while season 2 was airing; my brother and sister got us into it. We marathoned through the first season, a partially during a snowstorm (I'm pretty sure my mom, sister and I drove to Blockbuster at night to get more DVDs. Ah, when there was a Blockbuster around), and from there it was years of watching and discussions. It is the first tv series I really loved, and is a huge part of my tv experience. I remember watching the series finale at my grandmother's, and how big a thing was, years of story culminating in that pbagebirefvny raqvat. Juvpu V guvax vf vzcresrpg, lrg cerggl tbbq. Now I'd say there are several shows at or near the top of my favorites list, and that's okay, there's room in my heart. But Lost will always be very, very special to me. I grew up with it for a few years, and I think I really need another re-watch soon.
I wrote a paper in my composition class last semester on gender roles and such in this episode. It really had too much recap and not enough commentary after, but it was neat to analyze the episode. And yeah, all so young!
One of the things that bothers me most about the series is the complete lack of exploration of the possibility that Willow was bisexual, bi-something. sighs
Please. I would love that so much. Lost is my first tv love.
Character: Tara, Giles, and Buffy
Season: Five
Moment: "I'd like to test that theory", plus many others, but that ones comes to mind now.
Episode: .... The Gift, maybe. But I really can't pick one.
I love this show so much, <3
This has been an amazing project to read over these last few months. Mark started it shortly after I finished my watch of BtVS, and it's been great to revisit everything and experience commentary and comments and such. I watched "Chosen" late at night last December. Buffy's "Are you ready to be strong?" is such a powerful moment. I love the callbacks, the fight, the sacrifice and that final shot of Buffy, smiling. She did it. They did it. Thank you Mark, and fandom at large, for making this such a great experience.
Willow and Andrew deserve a gold star with “you tried” written in comic sans on it.
BEST.
Also, yay, I love Buffy and Wood's date and dynamic. They're cool. Naq gura gurl qba'g jbex bhg. Ohg fgvyy! Buffy/Wood!
Guvf vf gur orfg guvat. Bu zna.
