There are many GPS options, but the ones I have seen come with hefty monthly fees ranging from $13-$30 or more. There is one coming out soon which comes with a 2 year contract as part of the purchase price (they have not set a US price yet):

Late comment here.... Thanks for not mentioning how your first trip to the Apple store was a total waste because I made the appointment from my iPhone for help with an iPhone (damn tiny text hard to read), so they couldn't help you when you showed up with your MacBook. Child 1 loved that cupcake though, so it was worth it.

The modem was 19.2 kbps (really cutting edge for the time), but it usually connected at 14.4k (or something like that). Remember they used to charge by the minute? Those were the days.
