Yes, Arkansas is part of the South. I have relatives that live there and one of my grandfathers as well as his mother were born in Arkansas.

babeduc, I am fully aware that there are people who are scamming the welfare/disability system and I was not referring to them.

As far as what illegal immigrants should do if they want to do what is right, well, they need to go back to their country of origin and go through the proper immigration procedures.

Our country's laws apparently mean nothing to you. Don't give me that "they are only doing the jobs Americans are to proud to do" line. With the economy the way it is right now, I bet there are many legal residents that would be willing to do those jobs just so they could feed their families.

While part of me is glad the so-called "Color Barrier" was broken by electing an African-American as president, Obama's politics are far to liberal for my tastes. I didn't vote for him before and I won't vote for him this time.

The people in the photo are holding signs that say "We Reject Racism". I've got news for you people. There is only one race - the human race. To say that someone of a different ethnicity is of a different race is to dehumanize them. It is that attitude that allowed slavery to exist for so long in this country.

That being said, immigration has NOTHING to do with race. It is about being in this country in accordance with our immigration laws. If you are here in violation of those laws, you need to go home!

I am a genealogist and have traced a few of my lines to immigrant ancestors. Finding one of them was easy - he was my mother's father who came from Ireland as a young boy. It peeves me to think people are being rewarded for coming here in violation of our immigration laws when so many (like my grandfather and the grandparents you mentioned) worked hard and made the necessary sacrifices to come here in accordance with our laws.

Think about the days when the first Europeans came to this country. Boys younger than 14 were handling guns with responsibility - just so they could put meat on the table. I am sure they also helped defend the home from marauding Indians.

And the work camps need to have a lot of rules and strict enforcement of those rules. I'm pretty much thinking concentration camp without the starvation and gas chambers. Ok - maybe not quite that bad but I think you get my point.
