Spot on. I shared similar thoughts on my blog last night.

I just added The Righteous Mind to my Goodreads list. I have so many friends who hold wrong :-) opposite political beliefs from me that like MarcyL above, I struggled to connect with some people around election time. I'm still not back on Facebook - it's a warzone in there!

You could totally do it! Maybe not in flip flops. But you could do it. Start training! Next time I'm in your area, we're walkin, sister! :-)

We don't put decorations up. Grinchy, I know. Hubs said to me last night, "I'll only put up what's easy to put up and take down. And I don't want to pay 2x the electric bill for lights I don't like anyway!"

One holiday at a time, people. Please!? Unless you're not in the US. Then I suppose Nov 1 is acceptable. :-)

I asked him last night whether there were shenanigans in Minneapolis and he said there were not. However, they put him up in a Doubletree! Last time I missed a connection, they put us up in a ratty cheap motel with questionable cleanliness issues.

Ooh, you're getting even more in depth than I was thinking. Run-on sentences, fragments, and superfluous words are okay with me in casual writing. I'm with you when it comes to professional writing, though, in that I also have little tolerance for those things in that arena.

I've also learned not to be obvious about my editing and not to share unless I'm asked, for the most part. When something is very obviously mistyped, and changes the meaning, though, I sometimes share a note with the author to let them know about it. Well, that's only if I know the author personally. I don't randomly email people with notes about their writing, though I've been tempted.

You make an excellent, though possibly unintentional, point about not being a brat about editing suggestions.

Your/you're makes me crazy, as does the use of apostrophes in plural words. Cars, not car's. Okay, I'm off my soap box now.

Hi Christy, thanks for coming by!

Ands and commas are totally stylistic choices. In this post, I'm talking about the times when I'm reading along and I have to stop, re-read, think, mentally correct what I think it was supposed to say, then finish the sentence/paragraph and see if my estimated meaning matches. I shouldn't have to work that hard to read something.

Your point about your brain "knowing what you mean" is exactly why I suggested things like reading backwards or having someone else read it. I think what I really wanted to say is "Please don't publish your first draft!!"

Nope! Those things are stylistic. Unless you, put, commas, in totally, nonsensical places. Then stopit! :-)
