I giggled out loud a few times, and that is high praise coming from me. This is fantastic!

As a single mom whose son loves sports, I have coached numerous soccer teams (I never played the sport myself), organized snack calendars, taken jersey orders... all with varying degrees of incompetence. I have learned to just smile at how horrible it all is, because the other parents are mostly just relieved that SOMEONE is doing it, and that person isn't them.

Still, I relate. And I loved this piece.

Thanks! When Walker was reelected, I think I terrified my poor conservative father by sobbing about abortion access and women's rights and it's good to know there is a place here fighting the good fight.

I wore that same uniform! I had a "never drink and derive" shirt (math geek joke) and a crazy purple hippie skirt WITH BELLS ON IT and I wore them with knee high socks and a chuck taylors in a variety of colors. There was also a chunk of time that I owned a Beatles t-shirt for every day of the week, and I literally wore them non-stop. All I remember is that the Abbey Road one was for Fridays, because I thought it was the coolest.

This made me feel physically ill. But, in an OK way? Does that make sense? Like I don't want to know these moments, and the fact that I do makes me feel feverish and upset, but it's good that it's out there. UGH THANKS FOR WRITING THIS THAT'S ALL.

I totally get this feeling. I have a friend who I have been frustrated/angry/disappointed with almost constantly for the last few years. But her life and my life have both been challenging and we have supported each other as well as treated each other poorly.
Recently we had a blowout of the most severe kind. I am almost relieved that it's over, but I also still have all sorts of yucky feelings about how she must have been feeling about me to treat me the way she did...
UGH. Let me know if you figure out how to let it go, cuz I sure haven't!

I got pregnant my junior year of high school, and was miserably sick for the first few months. I missed a lot of school, not only because I was sick but because I was so miserable in my own skin and so petrified of being judged by my peers.
So of course, I had a teacher (male, of course) who told not only my class but all of his other classes that he couldn't release a test because one student who was "pregnant and thought she was above it all" hadn't taken it yet, and encouraged them all to confront that student and tell her she was being lazy. Which, of course, made me so uncomfortable I wanted to crawl in bed and not get out until I had given birth.
Needless to say, I never set foot in that classroom again. I got a C by turning in work through a friend though!
