Yes! Testimonial for Goomaly: she read my cards yesterday and was charming and compassionate and did a really good job. Y'all should do this, toasties! Get your reading on!

In that case, I'm down for both! How can we arrange this? Do you have a throwaway email where I can contact you?

Oooooohh I'd love a tarot reading! I am a little skeered, though. What if you see dire things in the cards? Does that happen a lot?

OMG you guys, I have one.

I had just been broken up with this dude and took a job at a shitty but fancy-pants immersion program for wealthy high-school students who weren't quite accomplished enough to get into more prestigious summer exchange programmes. Anyways, we were understaffed by one (as in, we had no director) and they put me in charge of excursions for one weekend. One of the teachers was supposed to come with me as a chaperone, but he didn't show up/call me, and I FORGOT him. The bus had to turn around to pick him up (because my judgment call was that we needed an extra person. I was dumb!) and we were late to our excursion.

This wouldn't have been the end of the world, but the students complained to their parents that I ruined their weekend. It was a huge fiasco for the program head but in the end they decided to blame the teacher, not me. (Even though it was my fault, obvi.) I still feel kind of badly about it.

And it NEVER gets better. Even if you're a bitch with doctorate in, say, World Literature. Then that means (to the oldster creepers) that you are responsible for ALL of the books (written by men).

Dude then props to you all! I have heard other horror stories, but there is something about the awl that is freaking me out. Abortions with tools used to happen in my native land (I'm also an immigrant to Canada) but that was in the 60s, which feels like a different era.

Wow. Your mom is a hero. I don't know any Romanian from the Ceausescu era who got out without some kind of horror story but an awl? I hope that she's been able to live a good life since leaving.
