I used tinyumbrella and redsn0w to jailbreak and everything was going fine right to completion to step 13 and after everything was done I'm right back to where I started. Message says itunes detected phone in recovery and I need to restore. Phone shows picture of cable pointing to itune logo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to jailbreak i4 using redsn0w & tinyumbrella. When I hold shift and click restore it opens up my Pwnage folder but I can't get the iphone3, 1 4.3.1 8G4 Restore file to open. Is there something I need to do to this file to be exe.ispw? When I open it shows a firmware folder and a bunch of other folders that say windows cannot open this file. Tinyumbrella is running and the iphone show a usb cable pointing to itunes logo. When I try to dfu it goes right back to the cable and logo. The i4 is ver 4.2.1 with 03.10.01.

Thanks for your help.

Hey everyone,

I'm in process of jailbreaking i4 using tinyumbrella. I'm at the step where I need to restore. It's asking if I want to restore from backup of i3 or set up as new phone. Do I need to set up as new phone or is it ok to restore from backup of old phone?

Thanks for your help as always.

Hello all,

Can someone please tell me how to jailbreak my iphone 4? The version is 4.2.1 and modem firmware is 03.10.01. I downloaded redsn0w and tinyumbrella but I don't really know where to go from here.

Thanks for any help!

Howdy!
I'm having a problem trying to get past restore. When I hold Shift down and click restore and box says look in Desktop I can see the Pwnage file and click iPhone1,2_4.0.2_8A400_Restore.ipsw it shows it in the "look in" but doesn't do anything else. I tried adding .ipsw to the end of the file name but I'm going around in circles. I can't get anything in the "file name" in the box . Any help is really appreciated.
thnx.

Does anyone know if you lose any speed by turning 3G off? I unlocked my iphone and had to turn off 3G in order for my t-mobile sim to work. Also, when I'm home my carrier shows USA Unicel but when I'm somewhere else it shows up as t-mobile. Strange?

I'm trying to upgrade to 3.0 and when I run redsn0w and the right firmware file it says it isn't recognized. I can't restore either because it won't let me past the message that my T-mobile sim isn't supported. It's as though the iphone can't be detected. At this point I'll take any version I can get. Is there a way I can get around this and install firmware? Thanks for your help.

I'm still getting message unable to recognize specified ispw. The file name is iPhone1,2 3.0.1 7A400 Restore.ipsw (I added the ispw). Thanks a million for help!
