Companies are beginning to show more profit now, not because of growing sales, but because of lowering their costs. Of course labor is one of those costs. Sooo, if companies can be more profitable by cutting jobs, it may take a while for rehiring of those laid off.

I think I read somewhere that 80% of healthcare costs come in the final year of one's life. I am not sure the details, but I would think this area could be scrutinized a bit.

Closer to my home, my mother takes 9 pills a day... and her friend takes 18 a day. Is all that necessary?

A family friend had to go get a special test done. The doctor gave him a list of 8 places where he could have the test done. He decided he would check out the prices, so he called all 8 places.

2 places said they would not know the charges until after the test...
2 places said they could not give out prices over the phone.
The other 4 gave prices from $265 to $625.

That is a lot of differences just for 1 test...

The point I am trying to make is, maybe prices should be made public so comparisons can take place.
