Makes sense considering Kearney was soo consistant last year it's a position we're we prob lacking experienced cover. Putting Hendshaw in there means your not having one of your best players on the bench and is an option come world cup time.
Ahh.. this makes sense! Put McCarthy's behind back in the bacon slicer and use his experience to get to Euro finals by any means /style necessary while Kenny works with youth & U21 to develop a team who can actually play decent football by the time he takes over. And hopefully Delaney will still move onto UEFA job by 2020. Things might be ok..
This is BS by Hanson to be fair. NZ have won the last 2 world cups and the last few Rugby Championships ... Ireland are still at our infancy in terms of world dominance and it is still very probable we get knocked out in a quarter final to a decent SA team or NZ. Let's enjoy today but still lots of work n sweat ahead. It will take at least 10 years of success and consistency to get to the level NZ currently have achieved.
Fair play to Clive for a positive-ish comment :)
Amazing effort by both teams. Some people said Chicago was a fluke, but I think this proves this team have learned and improved soo much since 2013.
Let's hope Joe knows he has built up a special group of player, weather he stays or goes we thank you for this.
Everything about Irish soccer doesn't really tally up these days! No talent coming through youth system, a national league that Irish fans wont get out and support. FAI paying off debts, John Delaney on more money than the head of state! Horrible and awkward MON v TOD interviews. Roy Keane dividing the nation every-time he breaths. English players don't want to declare for us anymore because it just not fashionable. 20 years of 'lets reflect on Saipan'! Hoofing the ball without a 6.7 giraffe up front. I think I might just go support the North.
Reality check.. England have only beat Tunesia and Panama. Some big teams have gone out all right but there are still at least 6 teams that look more impressive than them.
Have to admit thought it was gone. Championship winning / saving kick. People used to say Ireland we're bottlers.. Great to see this team have plenty of bottle.
If this was in New Zealand Carbery would be shipped off to another provincial team and would be a made a starting 10 without question. In Ireland provincial rivalries can be a blocker with such a move.Ultimately it would his own decision, but if he wants to be world class in that position then maybe what EOS says it not too far off the mark.
Not a great performance but what's the point or benefit of fielding a first team running up 20/30 points. Ireland have being found out before having lack of depth. This is the only way your going to find that. It's not always gonna be pretty but will pay off in the long run.
