I discovered he equates all christians with Jerry Falwell. I disabused him of this notion, but he's a liberal so therefore not subject to reasonable debate.
This is so funny and well timed because I just got a response from one of my liberal friends calling Bush's ethics (of all things) into question because he was an Evangelical Christian. Which is of course a blanket statement for anybody who does't hide their faith in shame. Being a christian automatically made him unethical in that argument. Of course I'd had him on the run for a while so this is what he had stooped to.
Yep, That's pretty much their stance. Never mind that they were so against deficit spending during the campaign but appear to have embraced it as the answer to all things in every situation now.
I've discovered through discussions with liberal friends that they are completely incapable of understand cause and effect. They don't see a bond when it exists, and see bonds where they don't exist. This got slammed into my consciousness with the "well you didn't complain when Bush was in office", argument. Totally unable to see the connection between our displeasure with their behavior and then getting their asses handed to them come election time. From a liberal perspective, 2 totally unrelated things. They simply will not see.
You know, that's an excellent point. As a manufacturer what do you want to do in order to sell your product? Make it inexpensive and make it easy to get. This works because though your costs may go up because you have to manufacture more in order to meet the need, your profits are going up as well.
Since the government would not be making any profit on healthcare, making it cheap and easy would increase the product usage, theregy increasing the costs while bringing in no additional money to cover it.
Hmmmmmm, sounds like a blog topic.
You're absolutely right, and I have to tell you that the trend for insurance plans is going back to the old deductible and then payment at 80% plan. The insurance companies found that with the low copays the costs of healthcare actually went up! When it only cost you a $10 copay, people were going to the doctor for everything. Since the patient was paying less, they used it more, but the overall cost was going up as a result. Taking the patient out of the cost equation has been proven not to work, and now the movement is to get them involved again.
By the way 60 cents of every dollar for health care is administrative costs. Isn't that crazy!
Then there was bit about spending 80% of her time defending attacks instead of doing the work of the people. They say she's unclear about why she walked away, but she made it pretty clear that others were making it impossible to do the job the way it needed to be done, and the way the people deserved. She made it quite clear she was stepping aside so no more of the people's time and, most importantly, the people's money was wasted on the defense of malicios attacks. Does it really get much clearer than that.
They think it's unclear because it wasn't draped in fancy political rhetoric. The absence of which makes her so popular. Sarah "no bullshit" baracuda!
And those republican feathers need to be ruffled in a big bad way. I'd love to see her throw a bucket of ice water into the faces of the complacent Americans and get them the wake the hell up and see what's going on. And she communicates what's wrong without the rhetoric but in a straightforward, common sense way that people understand. Sarah Palin as an independent citizen, bitch slapping the politicians, is exactly what this country needs right now.
This is what I would love to see her to. Travel the country speaking and reminding people what the government is supposed to be, while also kicking some political tookus. I think we're more desperate for somebody to speak out loud and harshly to remind the populace and the politicians than to have a single politician.
We no longer have that big flashing sign of why socialism and communism doesn't work. And, in fact, we now have leadership who thinks it's the answer. I'm getting more and more scared with every day that passes. Next year's elections are both too far away and too close. Too far away because of how much can be done, and too close because the opposition can't get their crap together. We need some strong independent candidates. People who know or remeber why socialism is bad.
