The Boeing business model is failing at a prolific rate. As I stated in a post earlier....Did this company not build planes for the last 100 years??? The management and executive officers need a shake up. The system is broken, badly broken, and it needs to be fixed NOW!!!!!

2 months for management to plan on how to get going on the 787 and I show up to do nothing. I wanted to work today and I too did NOTHING. Management needs a shake up on this damn program. I realize that it is the first day back from a long strike but I too did NOTHING!!!! I WANTED TO WORK!!!! Did this company not build planes for the last 100 years....cause it sure does not show in my area!

Sabre...first off these for me have not been 2 short months. I have changed more diapers in 2 months with 1 child than I did with my previous 2 combined.

Second as far as my remaining faith I had in the IAM...I have always had faith in the membership but I always felt the leadership lacked....well leadership. This contract proves it all to me and the only NO vote in my future is the vote I will cast for TW and his crew of ill reputes.

The only thing I have gained respect for these last 2 months is all the hard work my wife did raising our 2 older children as a stay at home mom....I love you hunny....my hats off to you!!!!!

What takeaways? I had everything I addressed as a strike issue taken care of. I have 3 real good friends and 1 family friend that are going to keep there jobs. Albeit for the next 4 years but they stood to loose them asap with the old BAFO. I am recieving a nice bonus and a pay raise. I will be the first to agree that I could use more but I do not see the golden ticket out there if we sit out any longer. My medical expenses were a huge issue to me as the shifts associated with the BAFO had me losing money even by Boeings math caluculator and now it is all the same. And speaking from someone that has been outside the gate working elsewhere in the past our medical staying where it is (2005 contract) I am hard pressed to find any employer to give this benefit level.

I would like to be paid more but over the last 50+ days I have grown to appreciate what we are getting here. I am not preppared to look elsewhere or sit any longer and lose more time and money. I'm a YES vote and am looking forward to getting back to work.

How right you are 777. The 787 program is what this strike is truley all about. The program has 4 issues that need resolving immediately.
1. The supply chain. It is getting healthier every day that we are out. From nuts and bolts to partner statements of work it is able to get healthy without our demand for more.
2. Planning. ME planners have been playing constant catch up from the first day parts have arrived. Plans are incomplete and very hard in most cases to follow. Planners have been under the gun to healthy and also prepare the planning for airplane 7 where the next round of changes come in.
3.Late engineering. Change incorp is going balls to the walls right now to get all late engineering changes into the system to be worked.
4. Quality auditing. Currently quality auditing is being done on all in shop 787's as part of certification.
The 787 has been touted as the future of Boeing and Boeing is betting the farm on it. The issues that are being resolved are easier done with no techs working the birds. The company is sacrificing the other sustaining program revenue (deferred) to get the future healthy and we are the pawns in the game.

Go easy on that airplane it is a beautiful bird. We know the IAM can build it in a timely manner. Channel that energy to the senior managers and corporate execs that have made the decisions to offload what the IAM and other fine members of our company have done so well in the past. The design engineers, the supply chain folks. I tip my hat to these folks as they were not invited to the 787 party initially. Yet like we, the IAM, they are there now bailing out the company as we all want to see that bird fly. The bottle necks on that line right now are solely due to a complete lack of foresight by the same people we are bargaining with.
