:( for the past 3 years, approximately 117% of my conversations started with "I heard this piece on NPR" or "I read this piece on The Toast," and what am I expected to DO with the better half of that gone.

I've been vaaaguely following Stronglifts 5x5 since maybe December of last year, and years prior to that had read a ton of form stuff on Stumptuous. Gym/lifting is so, so, so much more about my mental health and physical strength than about weight loss -- IF I lose weight, it's a happy byproduct of doing things that push me, but it's not the goal.

My current bench is 75#, after struggling for a long time to get comfortable with the empty bar. My overhead press has just recently graduated from 45 to 50 to 55 pounds, and I feel like a BEAST being able to press ANY bar over my head, given how hard THAT was a few months ago. When I get there, benching 100 pounds is gonna be AWESOME. I have shitty, grind-y knees and one of my hips started complaining about my 100# squats, so for a while I stopped squatting to rehab the hip, and I'm still skittish about building the weight back up. But the iron and the sweat are there for ME, for my lil' baby gains and for my sanity, and it's the best.

Around 11-12, my mom didn't want me reading "trashy" adult sci-fi/fantasy (Mercedes Lackey, et al). Instead, she took me to buy some Modern Classics, which is why I read the following for fun in 7th grade: A Clockwork Orange, Brave New World, The Once and Future King, To Kill A Mockingbird, and like...James Herriot's entire "All Creatures Great and Small" series?

Also I already had read an ALARMING amount about sex stuff because I'd found a Nancy Friday book in my mom's dresser and snoop-read it.

Oh, man. I was on AOL as early as 1996 but I mostly recall like...AOL chatrooms/AIM/IRC from that time period. Circa 2000-02 was more like it: Gonads & Strife, pre-Cracked.com Seanbaby, Teen Girl Squad*, Livejournal, the babygoth messageboards??, illusionsgallery dot com to browse and moon over pre-Raphaelite paintings before Wikipedia.

The dumb thing for me is that I bought sumac with no intention, just "hm." Sometimes I just toss it in things that could use lemon or another acidic flavor. And I definitely already had a 1/4c jar of zatar (which I almost never use) at the time of sumac purchase??

ALSO blends that I would definitely not buy again:
- Cake spice (not enough flavor payoff)
- Smoky 4/S (just buy the smoked paprika)

Basically all of our high-use* spices are Penzey's at this point, because if we use it a ton, it might as well be high quality. I have a cupboard full of their resealable bags o' spices because I can't be arsed to put them in jars 90% of the time.

How about Penzey's items you've accidentally bought wayyy too much of, optimistically or otherwise? I'LL START:

Fenugreek
Sumac berries

Alternately, things you bought on a whim and now are Very Into? For me that's aleppo pepper, epazote, white pepper, annatto seed -- household staples, though the annatto gets used up the slowest.
