Gautam and Arj, do we really need an individual leader? History has repeatedly shown us how dangerous it is when a communist party puts too much weight on the importance of individual leaders. Instead, why can't we keep faith on the collective leadership of the party and on the wisdom of the masses?

In Italy, Germany and elsewhere, the fascists took the advantage of socio-political tensions and a desire for change among the people to grab power. We all know what followed next. To say that the people are always right is therefore a risky assumption.
Let’s hope that the people have not made a similar blunder in Bengal - only to repent later for discarding of the Communists as “enemy of the people”.
