It's legal because Chief Justice Roberts 'construed' something (the mandate) to be something it isn't (a tax). And, the government has constitutional authority to tax. Unfortunately, from this day forward, all government mandates will be 'construed' to be a tax and therefore constitutional. Don't know if it will be Chevy Volts, but I suspect mandating electric vehicles won't be too far in the future. You'll probably be able to keep driving your gasoline vehicle, but have to pay an annual fee to the government, just like you'll have to do if you don't buy health insurance.
Some people get confused. They think a loud crowd is the same thing as a large crowd.
If a single penny of my tax dollar is going to be used to build this arena, then I VOTE NO! I'm tired of people with more money than I can even imagine coming after my money. And surely there's something of importance that my tax dollar can be spent on (although the politicians seem to have trouble finding it).
It's interesting how this article glossed over & pretty much ignored what is arguably the most important statistical information. Namely, the rate of wrongful convictions. With the information provided, it would appear to be about 9 wrongful convictions for every 100,000. Or, in terms of accuracy, approximately 99.991% of convictions are accurate. Now, it's always important to strive to do better, but when you consider how many people (each & every one less than perfect), are involved in the legal process, that accuracy rate is fairly impressive.
Yeah, I heard Obama wants to build a pipeline from Oklahoma to the Gulf Coast. Of course the oil in question is in Canada. Is he going to truck it to Oklahoma?? Or is he just going to build a pipeline to nowhere??
HBO, public airwaves, it doesn't matter. Disgusting comments are disgusting comments. Rush is correct in what he believes, but dead wrong in the way he expressed himself. He sounded every bit as disgusting as Bill Maher and he was a damn fool to lower himself to that level.
Amazing! After 36 years Norm Dicks has finally done something really good for his country. I wonder if Adam Smith will ever do anything good for his country??
Read your comments. That's some vile & hateful commentary you've provided us all with. Makes me wonder, as it sometimes does, how one of my fellow human beings ever got to be such a disgusting piece of crap. You are human.....right???
The idiocy of government knows no bounds!
The only real prolblem I see with the death penalty is that it takes way, waaaay too long to carry out the sentence. Don't know the dollar amount, but it seems reasonable to believe keeping a prisoner in lock down on death row for 20 years adds a lot to the cost of the death penalty. How about 18 months for the appellate court to review & another 3 & 1/2 years (for a total of 5 years) for appeals/new evidence. Then carry out the sentence.
