For what it's worth, though I don't know which cities in North Carolina y'all are looking at, there are specific cities in NC that are extremely, extremely queer-friendly. I live in Durham and if I see a local business that doesn't have a "We reject HB2" sign posted on its front window, it's weird and alarming.

ETA - I don't want to try to invalidate any anger anyone feels about NC. Our government is awful, and I very much understand a reluctance or refusal to visit or live here. I just want to say that I do believe there is a wide variation in actual citizens' and businesses' attitudes and behaviors depending on where you are.
