"A PENNY for every $4 purchase" ....I think I can swing that. Come on folks, are you really going to miss a penny? Clean out under the cushions of your couch and you will probably be just fine!
Don't you think all parents feel the same way? NO ONE wants to be redistricted.
Just for you CR: Currently only 20 percent of Americans identify as Republicans. I'm thinking they must ALL be here on the Salisbury Post! And your HERO had terrible poll numbers. Most "OBAMA DEFENDERS" as you call us just quit trying to explain reality to you. We have realized you will never have one good thing to say about him or democrats. (as I will never have one good thing to say about Bush) It's all good though, I am the total opposite of you. Thankfully, there are less of us (me and you=extremes) and more people in the middle. They don't post on blogs, they are busy in the real world. PEACE.
Good point. And most kids that have a good stable home life will likely be fine. Those that are "fragile" and already have the odds stacked against them, may have more of an impact. But I guess that is true for all things. Parental involvement is SO important. I always looked around at a PTA meeting and saw all the same faces. IF we could just get ALL parents there at the meetings and volunteering. Hey, a girl can dream.
Thanks. I have noticed the older I get, the less I can spell.

I know people buy homes in districts that they want their kids to attend. And, yes the kids will survive, but when it's your own child, you as the parent think of all the angles. Not only social aspects, but emotional as well. People establish a "family" with their school, and it is hard for the parents too. I went to Elementary, Middle, and High School with all the same kids. So we were all close and still are today. Too bad it's not like that anymore.
One thing the board may be looking at is that North has the lowest capacity and Salisbury is second lowest. So, if you are trying to increase numbers for one school, you probably don't want to pull from the next lowest school. If you do that then Salisbury will be the next to be addressed. Even though Salisbury has a good academic record and recently won an award, I wouldn't be so quick to jump on them as "always getting their way" Salisbury has the highest dropout rate in the County, with North second. North has also produced more Morehead Scholars than Salisbury High. I was at the last meeting, the point some were making on the board was to not take from the "next in line" struggling school or they will just be trading out. I'm not saying it's all fair, I'm just stating that is the info. I took from the meeting. Re-districting does suck all the way around.
I don't know all the history of SHS but I went to the homecoming game last Friday and noticed Dr. Eagle was the announcer for the game, then at half-time he ran down to the field and help set up for half-time show and homecoming court, then I saw him picking up towels from the players, then he ran back up to the box, announced homecoming court. At the end of the game, many kids (cheerleaders, band members, white and black, kids from the stands...) gathered around in a big group and started chanting "Dr. Eagle, Dr. Eagle..." until they got a wave back from Dr. Eagle and they all cheered. I have never met him, but people in the stands noticed what was going on. I thought it was pretty cool that teenagers respect their Principal so much. (please don't inspect my spelling or grammar... I graduated from North Rowan!) ....And that was meant as a joke. I am a proud Cavalier.
Each balloon had a tag stating the name and age of victim--it was very powerful. Thanks to the Family Crisis Council for the work they are doing in our community.
Now you guys know how us "DEMS" have felt the past 8 years. Ain't payback a *ITCH!
