...so I just now realized that these are not, in fact, pronounced the same way.

This has changed since I live with A Man now (who does 97.999999999% of the cooking) but on my own I always had on hand
eggs
pasta
garlic
pepper
dijonnaise.

Not the most varied of diets, but I always had a tasty meal whether or not I remembered to shop for bread or vegetables!

Just about a third of the way through Austen's Lady Susan and really enjoying it; it's really different from her other books as its epistolary and give a voice to the antagonist (Lady Susan herself) who basically is gaslighting everyone around her to get what she wants, and then explaining it to a friend of hers so I'm constantly getting suckered in and then realise nope, she really is being that awful on purpose. I like it.

Also just finished the Dagger and the Cross by Judith Tarr; really good and trying to show both sides of the Crusades (but with magic and people who are essentially elves in it).

I've been trying to psych myself up to start this one properly, I'm almost afraid of how sad/grim I'm expecting it to be, if that makes sense?

My husband isn't fond of leftovers - if you have it like, the day after the next day, he's fine or he'll make it into something else. Me? I will eat the same meal for dinner, lunch and dinner again as often as it will last if I like it, while he spends the whole week checking that I am actually okay with repeating a meal. We are very different people (and I have started keeping a notepad on the fridge with a list of what's in the freezer because we never label things)

My mother in law likes to point out it was grown purely as animal feed for cattle when she was a kid in Ireland.
