While I agree that there are many who have been re-elected ad-nauseum and who are morally and ethically bankrupt, it is not true for all. Unfortunately in my 5+ decades as a voter I have rarely, very rarely, cast a vote for someone I truly supported and who I believed would represent my ideals and those of the electorate with unquestioned integrity. Regrettably, my vote has been cast against one candidate or another--a vote for the lesser of two evils. I would like to see on every ballot a line titled "none of the above." If "none of the above" received the majority of votes cast, then that seat would remain unfilled until the next general election. Perhaps that would send a message that the voters in said district were sick of being represented by someone who does not share the values, priorities, and vision of the people they are elected to represent. As many if not most are absent as often as they are present, we might not even notice that the seat was vacant.
