I absolutely agree with you and I also wish it had been more overt. Beyond that we haven't seen a queer male relationship, we also haven't seen a queer relationship that doesn't involve a genderless rock alien (correct me if I'm forgetting something). They had an opportunity here with Smiley and Frowney, and didn't take beyond subtext. Maybe there was pushback from CN? Who really knows. I just hope SU will continue to be wonderful and give us more and more queer representation.

This episode brings up so many questions about Lion!!!

Given that the episode points out multiple times how Buddy/Steven & Connie are very unreliable narrators, I'm not putting any stock into the details of this episode. I'm personally fond of the idea that Rose was up to some magical fusion shenanigans with those lions but I still have many questions!!!!

My mind immediately pulled parallels between Smoky Quartz introducing themself and coming out. Or at least how my experience of coming out has been on some occasions. I tell someone a very personal part of my identity, and they usually have the same boring questions where they try to fit my orientation into what they already know. But my experience is usually much more interesting than that.

I love getting another chance to see Sardonyx and this episode portrays a complicated issue very well.
