11 years ago @ The Malaysian Insider - Under-fire Nazri fight... · 2 replies · -21 points

I don't think Nazri's response to his critics is very classy. However, that aside, I don't see what is wrong if a son works with/for his father. Many children work for or in the same company as their parents. This isn't really nepotism. It is only nepotism if a family member is given unfair special treatment without even fulfilling even the minimum qualifications like being given a contract worth millions eventhough they have no prior experience or a 200 million ringgit loan without knowing anything about rearing cows.

As long as Nedim is qualified, and gets paid reasonably for the services he provides, all is good and fair. I know a lot of people have a problem with the scandals he is involved in, but what he does in his personal life is his on perogative, as long as it doesn't affect his performance at work.

A fair comment by our PM. Maybe he has decided to follow the advice that Pak Lah gave and make his own stand. I just hope he is sincere and follows through with a real reformation of our laws. If he tries to pull off another "Peaceful Assembly Act" stun, I won't be surprise if the voters, come GE14, decide to punish his insincererity and hoodwinking them twice. As the saying goes, who me once shame on you, fool me twice and we're over.

And why revoke his PR? Is showing acceptance of other religions and their practices besides Islam a crime? This man is a hero, a role model that should be praised! Meanwhile, I've seen cases where people enter our country ILLEGALLY and they were rewarded with Malaysian citizenships! What a messed up country we are living in.

The rising cost of living is really a normal thing. It is called inflation. In any other country with economic growth, you'd expect it along with an increasing paycheck. But our country isn't like other countries, the real problem with this country is that the cost of living is going up but our paychecks aren't.

11 years ago @ The Malaysian Insider - MAS will not be privat... · 0 replies · +19 points

It's a bad call by Najib. Just like any other business, the whole point of a business is to make a profit. Under the government unfortunately, the whole point of MAS is to feed the UMNO cronies and their egos and make certain politicians look good when the election comes around. This is the reason why MAS is being eaten alive by their competitors.

Having said that, I still stick to my claim from a previous post that MAS is undervalued. Why? Because I know our current leaders have too much on the line to let MAS go bankrupt. The bankruptcy of MAS will be the death of their political careers. Worse come to the worse, the government will use tax payers money to bail MAS out so my capital is saved either. (Selfish, I know, but this is one of the best investment I ever made.)

Btw, I'm not a big fan of TDM, but as an investor who was lucky enough to by RM30,000 worth of MAS stock when it was worth 30sen I just have to thank him for making the price soar to 40sen. I still believe the share price will go up even higher if Najib was willing to privatize it.

It's just not enough to say, "They must respect. The use of the word Allah is exclusive to Muslims. Full stop.". Yes, it his right to make such a claim but as with any claim, it must be backed by reason. So why can't non-Muslims use the word Allah?

This issue have been going on more than half a decade, been through 2 PMs and 3 HMs and still the government isn't able to come up with one logical explaination. Maybe it's time for the government to take a good look and say, "I guess we were wrong. We cannot find any case against the use of the word Allah by none Muslims."

It's a sad day for Malaysia... What is his only crime? TOLERANCE! If our country keeps chasing away those with only good intentions, one day we'll find our country to be the most intolerant country in the world, far worse than the likes of Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan.

"Gone are the days when a politician can gain good branding by providing good service to the people, interact with voters and understand grassroots problems..."

Hmmm, those days are not gone and they never will. But I guess, it is just MCA who overestimates their "providing good service to the people" part.

Malaysian Airlines right now is way underrated and under valued, it has the potential to be a major aircraft carrier between SEA, Austrialia and the Middle East. Unfortunately, it can never gain the trust of long term investors as long as it remains a cash cow for UMNO cronies. The only way to save it is for somebody with a good business sense to take it private for a while and bring it back to life.

Not sire if you realize but the selling price is at 30sen. Almost half the price of 50sen that you suggested.
