I'm a little unclear about the 3GS old bootrom.... Am I able to run redsn0w and have an untethered jailbreak??

I currently use my 3GS old bootrom on t-mobile and thus require the unlock. Since the release of the updated redsn0w and ultrasn0w, I would very much like to update. Please let me know and if you advise me to update or if I should wait since reading that some people are having problems. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance and to the dev team! I couldn't do it without you!

Is that because of the bb? She says that's the bb but I'm not familiar with that one. And I was also under the impression that if it was an old bootrom model, then I would be able to unlock (unteathered) via redsnow. Am I wrong?

I don't have the phone in front of me yet, my gf just got the phone from her cousin, and she wants it jailbroken and unlocked. Can anyone verify for me, until I am able to get the phone in hand, whether or not I will be able to jailbreak with redsn0w and unlock with ultrasn0w? I think it's old bootrom but I'm not exactly sure, hence why I'm asking until I can get the phone in hand.

No, I was saying that I used to be able to access the internet while on tmobile edge while talking on the phone. It would tell me that I cannot access cellular data network but I would press ok and then it would still work. However, since updating to 4.1, I (and my gf) can no longer access it even after pressing ok to that message. Not sure why I used to be able to access it especially since you (Frank55) are unaware of such a capability.

Do you know the correct APN settings? Right now I'm using internet2 . voicestream . com and when trying epc . tmobile . com it says that I cannot access. Might you have any other suggestions. Also, I have used LEImobiles tmobile mms fix since updating. Might that have something to do with it?? I hope not because it does have my mms working correctly.

I understand that 3G will not work on t-mobile. However, I used to be able to run the internet/maps/ect. when I was on prior versions of iOS using edge. Why is that I can no longer?

@Frank55 - I used to be able to. Is there any reason that I would be able to previously but now that I am on 4.1 I cannot? Same thing with my gf's phone. She was on 3.1.3 previously and now on 4.1 she cannot.

After updating to 4.1, I can no longer access the internet (edge) on my phone while talking on it. I have 3G[S] jailbroken and unlocked with t-mobile. I used to be able to access it when I was on 4.0 and before.

Does anyone know a fix for that? I would greatly appreciate any help.
