@ fester: pics to follow when i can get a camera that works. and im not sure about the extra termies, the cc punch is nice, but for 50pts less i get the typhoons and double the number of missile shots. they can also be used to block in a pinch. decided against the multimelta on the storm as with the new dark eldar coming out i have a feeling av14 stuff will be on the shelf for a while... plus its a lot of points for bs3.

thing is, since the release of 5th ive run marine armies based off a) my own experience in list building (since rouge trader) and b) spending a while seperating the wheat from the chaff on the internet. ive run the vulcan raiders, "best of" marines, razorspam, bike hybrids, etc, and wrung every last bit of competative edge from them. the result is, after all this work, is that nobody wants to play me. all my friends are sick of having to deal with tourney lists in a fun environment, which is fair enough.

thus, im exploring different builds. im not going to take an army of utter fail, that would be a waste of everyones time, but looking for something a little different that wont roll over every game, thus the storms and scouts. i fully agree with your marine review, i thought it was great, but at the end of the day, im looking for more of a gimmicky force.

and in my defence, i love the model. is there anyone on here who can truly say they have never started an army based around something new and shiny that has little in game effect? cmon... we've all done it...

problem is, its more or less a worse thunderbubble list, might as well just run that and leave shrike on the shelf (probably not a bad idea....)

1.75k on the nose. threw it together whilst im building a fester list for some fun games, and it wont win any tourneys, but has a very nice "in your face" quality that shooty armies dont like. the 2k list gets a pair of ac/lc preads for kicks. sort of fluffy with all the scouts....
