It's critical that illegal immigration be stopped and that all illegal immigrants be returned home. It's equally important that legal immigration be scaled back dramatically. There are no solutions to a wide array of problems that afflict this nation - including dependence on foreign oil, carbon emissions, etc. - that don't begin with stabilizing our population. And it is impossible to do so without dramatically reducing the influx of immigrants.
For example, if we all reduce our "carbon footprint" by 20%, but our population grows by that amount (as it is predicted to do in a few years), what will we have gained? Nothing!
The U.N. ranks the U.S. with eight other nations - India, Pakistan, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bangladesh, Uganda, Ethiopia and China - as nations that will account for fully half of the world's population growth by 2050. The U.S. is the only developed nation with third world-like population growth, thanks to an extremely high rate of immigration. Soon, population growth won't be the only thing we have in common with the third world.
