Poppycass, I hope you keep saying things out loud! That's probably the first step in finding your way out of your situation. So good for you! While the house may not have provided the answer - it may have provided a support to you after all - a push in the right direction! Hope is a good thing. Wanting to change things for the better is a good thing. I hope you continue on that path and don't give up. There are other supports along the way if you pay attention. And check in here - there appears to be several friendly folks with a good ear and a laugh when you need one. Best to you. Love and hugs back at you.
Thanks Eugenia. Back at you. Hugs...
Oh poppycass…I too wanted this house. This one was my dream home for sure. I entered every day and mailed in additional entries. I imagined HGTV coming to the store where I work and how thrilled the town would be to have that excitement. My little store would be crazy! I thought I had put all the resources in play to keep the house should I win. I was just waiting. I started to get down when nothing was happening on the blog and I was sure the winner had been ambushed. But I was so certain the house was meant for me. No tears though. Because I'm still certain this dream is meant for me - the timing is off. You're not a "foolish idiot " to want something and go for it. How can you win without trying? Always invest in your hopes. The journey is often the best part - I've enjoyed the blog so much -glad you were finally able to connect. Stay with us - perhaps the next house is yours. And if not, you'll have had a lot of support and friendship just talking about your hopes.
Mine are now entered in a contest of their own - trying to get on the cover of Orvis. It's a long shot. You can find them under Cooper, Spencer…the wonderful springer spaniels. There is quite a collection of dogs vying for the cover and I have to say I have a few favorites besides my own. So, yes, the boys have moved on from the DH and are holding out for property directly on the water. My husband asked me if I was going to move on too and I've requested to sulk for just one more day. I have a new Tahoe magazine so I can set my sights on another…but maybe tomorrow...
Do we know - do they have a dog? My poor spaniels have just been told the news…
Thanks for sharing. Great clip. I'm very happy for her. I hope they can make it work. I had very sound arguments with my spouse and family for how to make it work so if she needs additional consult/support -I'm her gal! It's worth it! Exhaust all your family members! They'll be using it too. It will be great. I'm happy how this played out - glad I didn't have to wait until April to watch on TV. This was fun. Suspense was killing me and my own obsession was beginning to worry me - ended just in time! It's all good. I hope I get to be Laura's neighbor someday.
You know, John Gidding happens to be here in town for the Chicago Flower and Garden Show. I'll plan on putting in a good word for you for next year's DH! Clearly he did not read this blog. My friends have assured me that I'm 1st runner-up and that if Laura is "unable to fulfill her duties as DH winner" that I will no doubt get the call...
So Cebe, it's official…neither one of us is moving into the house. I confess I'm sad. I really wanted that house and now am singing that crazy "Let it Go" song. I'm very happy for Laura and her family. I've headed to Tahoe every year for the last 20 years and am renewed each time. It's a wonderful area. Northstar, Truckee, Schaffer's Mill will be great for her family. I'm going to keep pursuing my Tahoe home but I will watch with GREAT interest what particular properties catch your eye…. Hugs to you my friend….
Congratulations Laura and family! It's a wonderful place! I hope you have many wonderful adventures there! Continued blessings to you and your family. Enjoy those Tahoe stars!
Well, cebe46, we are finally in agreement on something. I think you're right. Yes, I said it. I think you're right. The ambush probably happened just as stated in the rules for the very reasons you suggest. For some reason, I think the winner was not a fainter but overjoyed. I'm guessing they are a cat person and are already planning to change my dogs' office under the stairs into additional storage…What's your take on the winner? I am happy for them - I assume one day we will be neighbors so I hope they keep up the place!
