I will mourn part of my day that The Toast occupied, while looking forward to your next endeavours!

"Three undergraduates from diverse backgrounds go hunting to reconnect with the false, nostalgic simplicity of their youth."
I'm almost positive I've read that before.

I started running in January, a complete newbie, and eventually ran a 5k! Between runs my knees were really acting up, and I'd been having issues with my knees before I even started running (trouble kneeling and squatting, lots of gross grinding and clicking noises) and between runs they'd feel kind of stiff and swollen. I stretch before and after runs, and I was fitted for proper shoes. I went to the doctor about a week or two before the 5k I'd signed up for, and she said I could continue running so long as it didn't hurt WHILE I ran, which it didn't, but also sent me to get x-rays on my knees.
So, I ran my 5k, though not as well as I would have liked. Things got in the way and I never got around to going for the x-rays. I signed up for a 6k at the end of the summer, figured I had plenty of time to prep, and that I deserved a "break" from running. Two months later I haven't run at all (though I'd been biking). I finally went out for a run the other day, and didn't even make it down the street because my knees hurt quite a bit while running. They're fine when I walk. The pain wasn't debilitating, but it was enough to make me think I maybe shouldn't be running on them? I could have possibly continued, but I didn't.
Obviously now I'm going to get those x-rays...but...is there a way for me to keep running in the meantime? Am I doing the right thing in not running? Should I still get back out there?
I hate when I finally manage to motivate myself into fitness, and it feels like my body is against me!

Also, it's like 30$, which is a bit pricey, but I wear it for going out or special occasions only (maybe once a month?) and it's lasted me about 2 years.
