People arent waiting for prices to move lower. Their waiting for their credit scores to stop moving lower. All the folks that lost their house and are in the process cannot buy a home for 10 years due to the FICO obstruction. There are people with cash and jobs that could buy but FICO wont let them. The government could "back" not fund resetting everyones score to 700 and 90% of the people would keep their score up. Whoever doesnt cant have credit extended for 20 years. They bailed out the banks with no strings. The housing market is the foundation of our economy and it is in tatters and comatose.

Agree 100% and I apologize for the mixup. Paraquat was used by the U.S. to kill pot plants in Mexico.
I remember traveling in 2 vans with 26 students from Durango CO through Mexico and into N Guatemala (Tikal). On the way out we were told to vacate the vans and they were all sprayed. I asked one of the officials to show me the chemical they used and it was DDT...neat huh?
I disagree with the 24d/glypho not being harmful. How bout a Roundup ready beet? What's scary is that plants are developing resistance to it.

There is significantly greater harm in the breath and flatulence of a one way Max ride let alone the commuters who ride it twice a day every day.

Sounds like raging ignorance to me. The waste is processed, natural, in liquid form and applied during the dry season. These folks and many in rural areas live next to horse stables with megapiles of manure that are carried directly to streams and ditches that are rained on for 7 months. I suppose that's ok? Any idea what compost is? Decomposed dead things. This fellow is finally providing the last link in our food chain and returning waste to the land where the soil is fed. Granular fertilizers used in highly dangerous quantities throughout the Willamette Valley for the last 50 years have trashed the soil along with untold quantities of 2-4-D, glyphosate, paraquat (Agent Orange), DDT,...enjoy your next perfectly round tomato that tastes like the paper bags you now prefer.

If you're going to sleep with someone for 30 years it's only prudent that you know what they look like.

I know I'm at least 1 brick shy maybe more but I think we're missing the context of this disaster.
The FICO score is the heart and soul of the USA. It's the yes/no of home ownership. I have no idea where the recovery is going to come from because there's a ton of people that couldn't finance a donut let alone a house. The smart money is paying cash for rentals. That seems to be a good idea because renting is going to be the only choice and will be the legacy of the Boomer.
If you want to crank up the economy again the gov could provide backing to FICO resetting everyone's score to say 750 and 5 years to keep it there otherwise it's back to 118. I think a lot of folks would do the stand-up thing with a second chance.

They won the battle of Puebla but lost the war to the French who occupied Mexico for unpaid debts. Read the rest of Wiki's article. The ignorance is Portland spending money on a foreign event that isn't even celebrated in Mexico save Puebla. Imagine Mexico celebrating a Confederate victory for 5 days. Watch the news. They'll repeatedly tell you it's not Mexican Independence Day which is much more worthy of celebration. Even so, not 5 days. I've lived, studied, and raised a family in Cuernavaca. This is a beer holiday my friend just as St. Patricks Day has become. They don't have any significant holidays between New Years and the Fourth so St. Patties Day and Cinco de Mayo are celebrated with beer as the lubricant.. More people have died from alcohol related incidents and accidents on May 5th than were lost in the battle. St. Patties is to have regard for and remember a Saint Patrick The root meaning of saint means holy. What we think of though is green beer and parades. We are a great nation but woefully ignorant about the rest of the world. I apologize for the tone. I just believe that spending money on this event for 5 days is unnecessary (especially now) and that the historical event is taken out of context. Just for fun ask 20 people what Cinco de Mayo is.
