Just wanted to post this I visited Ellis island and Liberty island and came away with these impressions. While climbing the steps to the great hall for some reason I started to feel sadness for those immigrants who made it as far this great hall only to be turned away due to illness or suspected crimminal activity, to be in sight of new york and to be seperated from family must have been the most heartbreaking thing to witnessed. On a tour group of liberty island a little girl no more than 6 while looking up at the statue of liberty asked the ranger if she had a heart,the rangers reply was that she didn't have a real heart,the american people were her heart who believed in liberty and freedom,sometimes children are far wiser than their elders
