From a Michigan fan who often watches ND games because they are generally GOOD games - GREAT GAME, looking forward to this weekend, it'll probably be a better game than ours vs Bowling Green... Glad to see the team is not following the fans, and maybe some of those unreasonable fans (of all teams) will learn something and follow a good example here. Right or wrong, it doesn't do any good to complain about it at this point, so they are moving on
As someone who helps run a local festival, I know that sometimes off duty police and other services will be granted free admission as a benefit for the hours that they do put in. I have a feeling this break from the police services was nicely done and well accepted by the police, based on the police response that officers will be available, etc. I think maybe it started at the top that "Police don't get free admission anymore" and made it to the bottom as "Don't let cops in without paying". I am sure now that it has been brought to light to both the police the the fair management, it won't happen again. The common sense of the gate attendant is not in question, and I am sure if an ambulance were arriving (or a police car, for that matter) with lights flashing, etc., they would have been allowed immediate entrance. As this wasn't an emergency the officer (rightly) probably showed up with no emergency lights, etc. If the final word that got to the attendant was to not let them in, right or wrong, he followed his instructions. This was probably just a mistake, accident, whatever you want to call it, give these guys a break...
Columbia actually busted someone for drugs? Or was this bust just because it was interesting enough to make the news...
Kudos to Starz Academy. My kids all went there and we were very happy with the care they recieved. I hope this mother realizes her errors and makes some changes before she hurts her family and others with bad decisions.
I believe jobs like this should be offered to those on unemployment. If you turn down the job but are physically able to do it, then you are now off unemployment and we offer the job to the next guy. There are too many people who sit on unemployment and apply only for jobs they know they cannot get or are not qualified for so they won't get hired...
I think it's a good idea to give it to them. As strapped as the state is and the high risk of infecting the entire population with the flu, thus costing us taxpayers a lot of money to treat them all, yea, I'm good with it. The general population out here doesn't really need it. It's not normally fatal, or any worse than the regular flu, for those without contributing factors such as heart/lung disease. Inmates, others in close quarters, pregnant woman, elderly, young childred, and those with contributing factors should be first on the list. I'll gladly give up my dose to someone else who needs it. Remember now that it is not for the inmates comfort that they receive it, it is to avoid having hundreds of inmates catch the flu, then having to empty the prison while they clean it and paying a large sum of money to treat it that is the concern....
While I agree with the medical law, I also see how a doctor treating a patient who is currently fighting LUNG cancer would be hesitant to prescribe a treatment that may be legal, however is NOT approved by the FDA and does have some, if minor compared to tobacco, ill effects on the lungs. I also give props to the doctors for refusing to discuss a patients confidential information with the media. If you disagree, go to med school, learn what you can, form your own opinions, then take up practice. Otherwise, SHUT UP!!! I'm tired of hearing the blithering uninformed statements made based on incorrect assumptions. Take a few minutes and think about the issues and learn a little something about it before you blindly post.
Has anyone considered that it may not be politics here at all? The financial crisis that the US and much of the "popular" world has been dealing with for a few years now has been around for 20+ years in Brazil, Argentina, and other areas in South America. I have been to Buenos Aires twice in the last year, not in the tourist areas, and it's rough down there. If you look at the mission of the olympics, I think they chose well. Olympics have NEVER been held in South America, and will be a huge boost to the entire continent, not just one city. When Rio came into the competition, I don't believe anyone else had a chance, they had too much opportunity in Rio. As much as you don't want to hear it, EVERYTHING is not the result of a politician. Get off your horse and think about something other than party lines and you will make a great contribution to helping our country move forward instead of walking backwards so you can continue to relive any perceived mistakes of past leaders not in your party...
