I recently read a quote from Ghandi on another blog that stated the following: "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then YOU win." I guess we are now at the ridicule stage - can't wait until WE THE PEOPLE win.

Old Marine - My family and I would like to thank you and all soldiers for your brave service to our country. I would also like you to know that there are still some of us out here that believe in the freedoms that you and those before you fought for. Memorial Day is a day that my family puts flowers on the graves of all our lost loved ones at several of the small cemetaries in our area. Then my children and I walk to all the graves of the deceased service men (and women) and say thank you to each and every one of them (Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, & Civil War. We've been doing this every year since my now 16-year old was able to walk, and it is still a tradition with our 4 children to this day. Thank you again and God Bless America!

I agree. This should be made into a movie (but aren't we already living it??) I bought a copy of 1984 and Brave New World at a used book store while on vacation in Deltona, Fl, almost 20 years ago now. My sixteen-year-old daughter recently finished Brave New World in HS Honors English, so I gave her my copy of 1984 to read to make her feel even better. She just finished it last weekend and it scared the heck out of her. She has become an avid Glenn Beck watcher (along with my 12-year-old) when she isn't at work trying to earn money for college (not looking for a gov't. handout here). Another book I would suggest you read is The Giver (can't remember the author), but I believe it was a Newberry Award. This is "children's literature", but it sure made me think - made my daughter think too.

Hello all. I am new to this posting thing, but have read many of your comments and am sad to say I must agree. I to have a sinking feeling that 2010/2012 will be too late. I continue to pray for our country as well, mostly for my kids' sake and the sake of all our children/grandchildren who have no idea what they are about to/already have inherited. Glad to see some other homeschool parents on here. Hopefully the courts won't force me to put my kids back in public school, but since the state recently took our county over I'd say its not too likely for the moment.
